The 2026 FIFA World Cup Is Right Around The Corner
Houston, the World Cup is arriving in less than 65 days. Can you believe it? More than 500,000 FIFA fans are expected to descend on our city this summer, and Houston is about to transform in a way we have never seen before. Ready or not, the world is coming.
Hotels, streets, restaurants, neighborhoods, all of it is about to take on a new energy. New screens are going up, watch parties are being planned, businesses are preparing and so much more. This event is predicted to generate approximately $1.5 billion in economic impact for the region. When I think about everything this city has built, everything it represents, and everything it has to offer, I feel like this is exactly what Houston deserves.
The city is gearing up to welcome fans from every corner of the globe. As one of the most diverse cities in America, Houston does not just celebrate different cultures, it is built on them. We have the power of bringing our communities together to showcase all that Houston brings to the table. I have always believed that Houston's greatest strength is its people, and we are going to bring the city to life in our biggest summer ever.
The Biggest Stage in the World Right Here in Houston
Did you know the FIFA World Cup is the single most watched event in the World? Over five billion people tuned in for the last World Cup. Five billion. And in just a few months, some of those matches are happening right here in our city, at NRG Stadium, one of the most celebrated venues in the country.
Houston is one of only 16 host cities selected across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. We are sharing this stage with cities like New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and Mexico City. I have spent my entire career betting on Houston and every single time the city has delivered. Let's show them the Houston way.
